Relax at Belmont Lakeside Holiday Park

The term "waterfront" doesn't do justice to the location of Belmont Lakeside Holiday Park. Surrounded by the waters of Lake Macquarie, with a narrow connection to the mainland, there are views over the lake from every spot in the park.

The term “waterfront” doesn’t do justice to the location of Belmont Lakeside Holiday Park. Surrounded by the waters of Lake Macquarie, with a narrow connection to the mainland, there are views over the lake from every spot in the park. It may be only an hour and a half from Sydney, but it feels like a world away. It’s the perfect place to relax and recharge your batteries.

Everything at your fingertips

Belmont Lakeside Holiday Park is a perfect base for sightseeing, paddling, and boating. Take day trips to local beaches, shops, sporting grounds, pubs, clubs, and cafes. Just around the corner, you’ll find the pick-up point for the wheelchair-friendly ‘Lake Mac Ferry’.

The accessible duplex can be rented out as a single one-bedroom unit (fully self-contained) or a very large and spacious two-bedroom unit. The cabin includes a large covered deck (front and back) to enjoy the stunning views. It’s also air-conditioned throughout, with all the mod-cons you could want.

The accessible cabin is directly across from Belmont Lakeside Holiday Park’s pool, where you’ll find water features for the kids (and kids at heart), with an aquatic wheelchair and pool hoist for access. If you’d rather stay on dry land, you can laze in the sun or lounge under one of the poolside cabanas.

Most of the sites in Belmont Lakeside Holiday Park are concrete to the road, for the ease of customers that are caravanning and require smooth, level access.

Wheel and wander along the newly-completed community pathway around the water’s edge, taking in the serene views. At nearly 600m long, with rest stops, benches, and a drinking fountain, it’s the perfect way to get out and about and enjoy the fresh air. A word of warning, though: the lovely local ducks sometimes think they have right of way!

If the kids are still full of energy, they can check out the new playground. It has ramped access to the recreation room and pool precinct, an accessible spinner, nest swing, slides, and climbing structures.

There are BBQs in the pool precinct, and an accessible BBQ near the cabins – the perfect vantage point to keep an eye on the kids while cooking up a delicious lunch or dinner.

Get amongst the locals

Belmont Lakeside Holiday Park – like all parks in the Lake Mac Holiday Parks group – is perfectly located as a base for getting out and about in the local area.

The Lake Mac Ferry is a new must-do activity when holidaying in the region. It’s accessible, with ramped access to and from the various wharfs. It operates each Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday, so make room in your holiday activity for a wonderful day out. You’ll get to experience the gorgeous views of the lake, and check out the towns along the way. You might drop into the Table 1 Cafe at Speers Point for a coffee or a sumptuous lunch, or stop at the club at Wangi, or perhaps visit the art gallery at Booragul. You’re spoilt for choice!

With the warmer weather, it’s the perfect time to enjoy the local beaches. There are great accessibility accommodations at Blacksmiths and Caves beaches, including a beach wheelchair available during patrol season, and a mobi-chair (amphibious wheelchair) at Belmont Baths.

For a more relaxed afternoon, you can’t go past Fernleigh Track. This former coal train track is gently sloping, making it an easy stroll through wetlands and bush, all the way from Belmont to Adamstown. Extensions to the track are underway, and it will soon reach all the way down to Blacksmiths.

What’s on

There’s always plenty to see and do around Lake Macquarie. Regular markets are abundant, but make sure you check out what special events are on when you’re in the area.

  • Sydney Comedy Festival
  • Living Smart Festival
  • Football
