We Review: Ultiqa Signature at Broadbeach

Located in the heart of Broadbeach and within walking or wheeling distance of shopping, dining and entertainment, Ultiqa Signature at Broadbeach is perfectly positioned for travellers looking for the ease of leaving their car behind.

Ultiqa Signature at Broadbeach is a newly-opened apartment complex combining modern facilities with cool beach chic. With an accessible playground and beach within easy reach, the property has an enviable number of accessible facilities at its doorstep.

Ultiqa Signature at Broadbeach Facilities

Ultiqa Signature at Broadbeach has not rested on its laurels based on its sensational location. The apartment complex offers a desirable range of accessible facilities of its own, including The Deck’s crowning glory, a 50m infinity-edge pool – a first for Broadbeach. A Pelican pool hoist is available (by arrangement) and can be moved for use in either the pool or spa.

Everyone can access the stunning infinity pool and spa at Ultiqa Signature at Broadbeach.

If you’re seeking alfresco dining, an expansive entertaining area adjoins the pool offering barbecues, teppanyaki grill and undercover seating – not to mention stellar sunset views on a clear evening.

Wonderful sunny days kept us busy outdoors during our visit, but for a lazy evening or a rainy day, booking Ultiqa’s cinema is great free entertainment. Guests can exclusively book the cinema and either stream from their own device to the big screen or select from the DVDs on offer. Comfy lounges and bean bags are provided, but there’s also plenty of space for a wheelchair user to remain in their chair for a screening. The cinema is in hot demand so booking early is recommended.

Rainy days don’t need to stop the family fun, with the accessible indoor cinema room at Ultiqa Signature at Broadbeach.

Our Gold Coast itinerary kept us too busy to hit the gym and sauna (that’s my excuse anyway) but they are available on the same level as the pool and spa for motivated holiday-makers.

Ultiqa Signature at Broadbeach Accommodation

It’s often difficult to find accessible apartment accommodation suitable for a family, let alone one with an ocean view. Ultiqa Signature provides both.

The two-bedroom accessible apartment offers a king-bedded room with accessible ensuite bathroom and a twin single-bedded room with ensuite. Both bedrooms are accessed by a sliding door, making access smooth and easy. The accessible ensuite bathroom is spacious featuring a shower bench, hand-held shower, toilet with back-rest, lever taps and grab rails throughout. The main bedroom balcony door is operated by a push button remote control so there’s no heavy wrangling to open sliding doors and the balcony is step-free with room to sit at the outdoor table for a wheelchair user. The kitchen is well equipped with a full-size fridge, oven and microwave at a lowered height for easy use. Air conditioner controls and light switches are all located at a lower height for access.

If busy beach days create loads of washing, the washing machine and dryer in the apartment will be your new best friends.

Like many modern buildings, the bedrooms at Ultiqa Signature are compact and therefore are best suited to wheelchair users who have some mobility to transfer from a wheelchair to the beds. Space on either side of the beds is limited and may prove problematic for larger wheelchairs.

Ultiqa Signature at Broadbeach provides accessible facilities within its complex, with automatic opening doors, step-free entry and lift access to the accommodation and rooftop pool and leisure centre. The car park’s clearance is 2.2m.

The apartment is also exceptionally well-positioned to take advantage of some of the Gold Coast’s popular accessible activities. Just a short wheel or stroll away at the end of the street is the fenced Kurrawa All Abilities Playground, with a range of accessible playground equipment and a Changing Places bathroom. Beside the playground is Kurrawa Surf Club, which has a Sandcruiser beach wheelchair available for loan (contact the surf club to make a free booking).

For those looking for a low-impact way of enjoying the Gold Coast, walking along the Esplanade in the morning and late afternoon is a serene pastime for locals and visitors alike. What a rarity it is for us to run out of energy before we run out of accessible pathways! It’s a joy to have such a level walk hugging the coast with spectacular views most of the way. Accessible viewing platforms are staggered along the route to Surfers Paradise, providing a spot to leave the path and enjoy the beach activity or just contemplate life.
